Helping Mommy Cook

Keegan helped me make spaghetti sauce the other day. He really enjoyed helping stir and add ingredients and especially tasting it!

Play Dough

I have been trying to come up with activities that Keegan can do with his babysitter who comes to keep him while I teach lessons once a week. This week I made play dough. As soon as I started cooking it, the smell brought back memories of when mom made play dough when we were kids!

After I dyed my hands trying to color the play dough, it turned out pretty good!

Keegan seemed to enjoy playing with it with Joanna, his babysitter, and they left their artwork for me to see when I was done!

We tried it some the next day and made a watch!

Kaylee's Birthday Party

Keegan went to the 3rd birthday party of his friend (daughter of my friend Shana that I used to teach with) today. This was the first party he's been to now that he is somewhat more aware of what's going on. He seemed to have a good time. He ate cake and watched Kaylee open presents and even helped with the piñata, though this is a new safer kind...just pull the strings hanging out of the bottom, one of them will open it. Keegan was pleased with his loot from the piñata, a ring pop. Here are some pictures from today:

Eating cake.

Mmm, Keegan enjoyed his!

Cowboy Keegan

Keegan has discovered the cowboy hat he got for Christmas last year. He loves it. He likes to put it on and ride his little horse stick thing (see picture below).

Wait, where's my hat?! (signing hat)

Reading in the bathtub...with shoes on....

Keegan decided that it would be a fun idea to wear his crocs in the bathtub. Since that was really the only way I could get him to get in the bathtub without a huge fight followed by a meltdown (yes, we have entered the world of the terrible twos independence in full force), I gave it since it was his crocs (or his "dada shoes" since Justin has the exact same ones) he wanted to wear! Then he wanted to read his book. When I looked down at him, it just made me laugh because the crocs were making his feet float so it looks like he has his feet propped up, reading his book.

"Coffee" and Makin Music

One of our Sunday morning routines is to stop at Starbucks and get coffee for Justin and a green tea latte for me. Well Keegan now wants something too. I recently discovered that they have kids cups that look like small versions of the regular hot drink cups. So we get him a kids cup with some plain whole milk in it for him. He feels pretty cool having a drink like mom and dad.

Our drummer at our church was gracious enough to let Keegan play his drum one morning, Keegan enjoyed it very much.

Then he found the microphone, and he was hooked. Keegan is really into microphones right now. He gets so excited when he sees them at the checkout at the store or on TV. He pretends that things are microphones around the house. We finally got him a toy microphone that he loves. But when Justin handed him the real microphone at church, he thought that was really great.

Drawing & Microphones

Keegan is really beginning to enjoy drawing and coloring. Here he is drawing a picture.

Keegan also thinks that the book light on this tray is actually a microphone so every now and then, he took a break to "talk" into the "microphone.
