Painting with Pudding

I read on a blog about using pudding colored with food coloring to paint with for toddlers. It was safe if they happened to eat it and since I already had pudding and food coloring and I didn't have paint anyway we decided to use the pudding! (At least easy enough to spray off when we were done!) I just made some lemon (thats what I had that was a light color) pudding and chilled it for a bit. Then I separated it out into 3 little containers. I put red, green and blue food coloring in the containers and mixed it up. Viola! Finger Paint!  It was actually pretty easy and not all that messy. (At least easy enough to spray off when we were done!)

Keegan really seemed to enjoy himself and we made a nice picture (and one really messy one)!

Getting started (not to messy yet!)

oops! wrong end!

Its easier when standing apparently

Who needs paper....painting myself it much more fun!

18 Months Old

Keegan is 18 months old!

  • Weight: 29.9 lbs (90%)
  • Height: 34" (90%)
  • Clothing Size: 24 months & 2T
  • Enjoys: Books, Trucks, Animals, being outside, watering his flowers that he helped plant (we have to do this every time we go in or out the front door where he sees the flowers and his watering can) the pool, Baby Signing Time (he points to the TV and signs "baby") and the garbage truck (he hears it and we have to go outside and watch it the entire time it is on our street!)
  • Turn-Offs: still not much....diaper changes....and he doesn't like loud noises, they wake him up when he is sleeping and scare him :-(
  • Strengths: signing, eating (he is a great eater)
  • Sleeping: Keegan is going to bed around 7-7:30 these days and sleeps until about 5:30. He was sleeping until 6 or 6:15 but not anymore. He rarely sleeps past 6. So we are working on eliminating the morning nap in hopes that he won't sleep as much during the day and more at night. It still hasn't made  difference but we have only been doing it for a few days now. Right now, he wakes around 5:30 and he's up until around noon (I can't keep him up any longer than that, he almost fell asleep in his high chair the other day!) He then naps from around noon until around 3pm. Nice long 3 hour nap.....he's not really sleeping less than he did with 2 naps, hmm...Then we go to bed around 7pm. Hopefully it will start affecting his morning wake up time. Eventually I hope to get him to a 1-4 nap instead of 12-3 but we're taking our time.
  • Words: Keegan "talks" all the time. Sometimes it sounds like he is saying words but I am not sure if he really is or I am just thinking he is!
    • "BU.." for "Book" (6.24.11) We noticed today that he was trying to say book.
    • "UCK" for "Truck" (6.23.11)....when he was watching the garbage truck. He was standing in the front yard and kept running to me (standing at the front door) and signing "truck" and saying "uck".
    • LOOK (6.24.11)...pointing at flowers at Marbles Museum, telling me and Weezie to "look" at the flowers
    • ICE (5.24.11)....today at lunch Keegan held his cup towards the ice maker on the fridge and said "ice!" and I said do you want ice in your water and he said "ice!"
    • WHO'S THAT (5.23.11)...I was teaching a cello lesson the other night and Keegan had to eat dinner during my lesson because Justin had a late meeting and in the middle of my lesson (up until which he had been good and quietly eating dinner) he looked up and said "who's that?" referring to my student. It cracked us all up. I told him the name of my student and suggested he say hi. He looked at me and laughed then a minute later said hi to her!
    • BABY....he signs baby and says baby in the same high pitched voice that he uses for kitty. He has a boy baby doll that he says "baby" when ever he sees it as well as when he sees real babies.
    • WEEZIE....he has said "Weezie" a few times when prompted or shown her picture.
    • MOM....we skipped Mommy and Mama really. I'm already just Mom.
    • ALL DONE (4.5.11) Keegan now says "all done" and signs it at the same time
    • WHAT'S THAT? (3.29.11) Keegan says this when are looking at books and he points to everything....what's that...what's that...although it sounds like "wa dat"
    • KITTY (3.1.11) when he sees the cat that lives next door or even when we go outside he looks for the "diddy" as he says in a very high pitched voice.

  • Books: any book with trucks in it or animals
  • Toys: Race Track
  • Activities: going to the pool, playing in back yard, watering his flowers

Things I don't want to forget:
  • Keegan loves to water his flowers. He helped me plant flowers one day so now anytime we go out the front door or come home and walk past his flowers, he has to go look at them, tell me that they are indeed flowers and then he grabs his watering can and runs towards the faucet. After we fill it up, he has to put on his "gardening gloves" which were his mittens until today when Weezie got him real gardening gloves just his size. Then he can water his flowers!

My Little Gardener

He wanted gloves like mine so I put my extra pair on his hands, though they were very big!

Then we found his old mittens and put those on, they worked much better.

Keegan's First Trip to the Hair Salon

Keegan has had several hair cuts by my friend Stephene but had never actually been to a hair salon or barber shop. Justin had an appointment to get his hair cut this past weekend so we made one for Keegan as well. Since Justin and I have a our hair cut at the same place, by the same person, our hair dresser, Thoa, had been asking when Keegan was coming in for some time now, so it was fun to finally get him in with her. Keegan did great, he sat relatively still (for him!)
Before

Thoa gave him a comb to play with, it was a great idea.

Then he got a squirt bottle and figured out (with Daddy's help) to squirt it at me (and my camera!)
