Favorites of Keegan currently:
  • Foods: beets (he LOVES them!)
  • Songs: anything, he loves music
  • Shows: Baby Signing Time
  • Books: any book with trucks in it
  • Toys: Horse and Cow from his Little People Farm Animals, stuffed kitty
  • Activities: going to the pet store...Keegan LOVES animals!

Things I don't want to forget:
  • Keegan has discovered that if he pushes the button on the fridge, water will come out, thus demonstrating to us the reason for the child lock feature! However, one time it wasn't locked and Keegan pushed and got wet. So he grabbed a paper towel (which were right next to him) to dry his face off! Smart boy!  (3.28.11)
  • When Keegan sees kleenex, paper towels or toilet paper he reaches for it and "blows" his nose.
  • One day (3.30.11) I was making a cake for our small group and Keegan was "helping" me. When he saw the batter in the mixer he insisted on being picked up to see what it was. When he saw it, he immediately started going "mmmmmmm, mmmmm". I think he remembered when I let him lick a beater from his birthday cake icing. After the cake was in the oven, I turned on the oven light so he could watch. He stood there going "mmmmm, mmmm" and smacking his lips. Once the cake was done, Keegan again thought it looked pretty yummy so he was going "mmmmm, mmmm" but this time signing "please eat please eat" so I gave in and gave him some....big mistake, he wanted "more please eat, more please eat"!
  • We have begun to wean off of breastfeeding starting at the beginning of April. This is a bittersweet process for me. I have loved having that close bond that breastfeeding creates between mother and baby and am thrilled at how long we were able to go. I know how good it has been for him nutritionally (and good for our wallets!) and am proud of our accomplishment with the difficult task that it is. Nobody warned me how hard it was in the beginning so I feel a sense of accomplishment to say  we made it 16 months. I feel like it is time to close this chapter but I already miss our special time where he still seemed like he was still my baby and not this little boy he is quickly turning into.

Digging in the sand

We went to the park today with Keegan's friends. At the park near us, the Town of Morrisville Park, there is a nice big sandy area for the kids to play. This particular day there were a lot of shovels left in the sand. Keegan found one and plopped down and began to dig. He had a great time digging in the sand. He got very sandy, I found it everywhere after we got home but at least he had fun! I think this summer at the beach will be a lot of fun for him to play in the sand!

Learning to Eat with Chopsticks

We went to Pei-Wei for dinner the other night. Keegan was curious about Justin's chopsticks so Justin tried to teach him how to use them himself. Keegan enjoyed figuring out how to use them.

Greensboro Children's Museum

Justin went on a retreat with the men from our church so Keegan and I decided to go to Greensboro for the weekend so we didn't have to spend the weekend alone! While we were there Weeize and Granddad took us to the Greensboro Children's Museum. Keegan had a BLAST. I think this is the most fun I have ever seen him have. He thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Big chair at the entrace

Shopping in their grocery store. Keegan loved pushing the buggy around and picking out his groceries.

He "sampled" a few items of course

Showing Granddad how to sign "truck"

Good job Granddad!

Sleepy Baby

I don't get pictures of Keegan sleeping much anymore since he only really sleeps in his crib and I try to stay out of there when he sleeps so I don't wake him up! It seemed when he was a baby I had so many sleeping pictures (because he did so much sleeping!) but now I have the most pictures of him in his highchair because it is one of the few places I can keep him in one place! But I got a few sleeping pictures recently that I thought were very sweet.

Working with mommy

The other day I was working on my laptop, trying to finish something I had been working on while Keegan was sleeping but he woke up before I finished...Keegan saw what I was doing and he went and got his laptop too and handed it to me and tried to climb in the chair next to me. So I put it on the table and sat him in the chair and he "worked" on his laptop while I worked on mine. It was quite funny. Then the next day I was on a conference call during his nap and he woke up before I finished so I had to go up and get him. I put him down and he immediately came over to the table where I was working and wanted to climb up and work on his laptop again too, but this time he was also signing "phone". I guessed he wanted to be on his phone too since I was on mine. So I gave him his phone and he "worked" and talked on the phone. It was very cute.
